GAB operates Glastonbury’s community based summer and fall travel baseball programs for players age 13 through age 25. GAB seeks players who are willing to dedicate time and effort to improve individual and team skills and are interested in playing against the best competition in the area. GAB teams are selected after competitive tryouts and consideration of previous playing experience. All players and parents should be aware that “cuts” maybe necessary, depending on the quantity and quality of registered players and the number of teams fielded by GAB. While “equal playing time rules” are not in effect, all players selected for GAB teams will have the opportunity to earn significant playing time over the course of a season.
Depending on the team and level of play, games and practices will be scheduled 3 to 6 days per week and will include weekend events. While some conflicts maybe unavoidable, all selected players are expected to make a full commitment to the team. Players who cannot make the necessary commitment should not register.
The major focus of GAB is to provide opportunities for talented players to improve their baseball skills in a competitive travel baseball environment. GAB strives to place each selected player on a team that will offer appropriate challenges and opportunities for success.
Summer Program: The GAB Summer Program is a logical extension of the Glastonbury Little League (GLL), High School and College spring seasons. Play starts in late May and ends in early August (season duration varies by team). Participation in other summer team sports and/or extended vacations prior to early August (exact date varies by team) are not compatible with participation in the Summer Program. Players who cannot make this commitment should not register. GAB teams are placed in the Farmington Bank/Vantis Life, Greater New Haven, American Legion, Manchester Twilight and Connecticut Collegiate baseball leagues.
Fall Program: GAB encourages baseball players to participate in a different fall sport to improve their athleticism. However, GAB offers fall baseball for those who choose not to play another sport in the fall. Because of limited field availability and to avoid inevitable conflicts, players participating in another fall sport will not be allowed to play GAB fall baseball. Playing another sport in the fall will not impact a player's selection and placement on future GAB teams. For recent graduates of GLL, GAB offers a Little League Graduate Program (aka The Big Diamond Program) which serves as an introduction to the 90 foot diamond. The Big Diamond Program is a combination of instruction and controlled scrimmages that concludes with a series of live games. For older players, GAB fields teams in fall Babe Ruth, Greater New Haven and American Legion leagues.
